Justice Department official warns of foreign election interference from Russia, Iran, and China
A top U.S. Justice Department official has warned of significant foreign election interference from Russia, Iran, and China, just 33 days before the election. Matthew Olsen described a coordinated effort involving propaganda, cyber intrusions, and threats against former President Trump. Olsen highlighted Russia's use of advanced technology, including artificial intelligence, to create disinformation and support Trump's candidacy. He noted that the Justice Department has seized 32 domains linked to Russian propaganda efforts aimed at influencing the election. Iran poses a serious threat as well, with credible plots to assassinate Trump in retaliation for past U.S. actions. While China's interference is less pronounced, they are focusing on congressional and state campaigns. Olsen emphasized the need for transparency about these threats.
