Justice Gavai emphasizes dialogue for peace in Manipur

A group of Supreme Court judges visited Manipur this weekend to promote peace through constitutional dialogue. Justice Gavai, who led the five-member delegation, spoke at the 12th anniversary of the Manipur High Court in Imphal. He emphasized that discussing issues can lead to solutions. Many people currently live in relief camps and want to return home. Justice Gavai expressed optimism that peace would soon be restored with efforts from state leaders. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Manipur's Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla attended the event. Meghwal praised the judges' visit and noted the progress in the peace process. He expressed hope that this effort will help Manipur contribute to development in India. During the visit, the delegation inaugurated several judicial projects, including new court buildings and video conferencing facilities. Justice N Kotiswar Singh, another member of the delegation, shared that there is optimism among the people they met in Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts. The judges had visited relief camps for internally displaced persons on Saturday. Justice Singh noted the community's strong traditions and its significant contributions to the legal system, highlighting the achievements of local judges.
