Justin Cochrane joins England coaching staff from Brentford
Justin Cochrane has recently joined England’s coaching staff under new head coach Thomas Tuchel, while continuing his role as assistant coach at Brentford. Cochrane has spent three years with Brentford, working alongside head coach Thomas Frank. Cochrane's coaching journey began at a young age while he was in the academy at Queens Park Rangers. He created a grassroots team for local children and developed a passion for coaching even before his football career took off. He played professionally for clubs like Crewe Alexandra and Rotherham United and represented Antigua and Barbuda internationally. Before joining Brentford, Cochrane volunteered with Tottenham's youth teams. He gained valuable experience by working with talented coaches at Spurs, where he helped develop future England players. After serving on England's youth teams, he briefly worked at Manchester United, leading their player development. Brentford recognized Cochrane's abilities and wanted to bring in fresh ideas after a successful first Premier League season. Cochrane's expertise in developing young talent aligns with Brentford's long-term goals. In games, his role involves analyzing the match from the stands and providing insights to the coaching staff. Cochrane has contributed to player improvements on the squad, with significant progress seen in players like Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa. His coaching style emphasizes creativity and learning. Both Brentford and Tuchel see Cochrane’s experience as beneficial, especially with the upcoming 2026 World Cup in mind. His insights on players, particularly those on the fringes of the national team, will be valuable for Tuchel's plans. This partnership aims to strengthen England's chances in future competitions.
