Kae Tempest releases new single "Statue In The Square."
Kae Tempest has released a new single titled "Statue In The Square." This is their first single since 2022's "I Saw Light," which featured Grian Chatten. The new track was shared on March 19 and was first previewed on Nick Grimshaw’s BBC 6 Music show. In "Statue In The Square," Tempest offers a raw and honest performance. The song has a strong rhythmic quality, with hard-hitting lyrics delivered in a fast flow. This style reflects Tempest's early experiences as an open mic MC. The track was produced by Fraser T Smith, known for working with artists like Stormzy and Adele. Tempest describes the song as empowering, aiming to inspire listeners. "There is power in showing up for yourself and your people. I hope this song powers you up," they said. A music video for the song features voices from the community. Alongside the single, Tempest announced three intimate shows in the UK. The performances will take place in Bristol, Leeds, and London at the end of March. These gigs will allow fans to see Tempest up close. The shows support Tempest's upcoming performance at the BBC Radio 6 Music festival in Manchester on March 29. Their last album, "The Line Is a Curve," released in 2022, received a positive four-star review from NME, highlighting the depth and emotion explored in the music.
