Kalaburagi's new superspecialty hospital opens next month
Kalaburagi: A new superspecialty hospital in Kalaburagi is set to open next month. Medical education minister Sharan Prakash Patil made the announcement after inspecting the hospital's construction on Saturday. The hospital is located within the GIMS Hospital building. Patil stated that officials have been instructed to finalize preparations for the inauguration. The opening date will be confirmed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Rajya Sabha opposition leader Dr. Mallikarjuna Kharge. The advanced specialty hospital cost Rs 175 crore to build and aims to make Kalaburagi a healthcare hub. Medical equipment worth Rs 40 crore has already been purchased, and an additional Rs 7-8 crore is needed for more equipment. The hospital will have a 14-unit dialysis center on the 8th floor, starting with 10 new machines. There will also be space for 14 more units in the future. This floor will host all super specialty outpatient departments and a 5-bed casualty unit. The 9th floor is ready to accommodate 77 inpatient beds, with the ability to expand to 200 beds if needed. The 10th floor will include 6 operation theatres and 33 ICU beds, with plans to increase to 62 based on patient demand. Out of 21 specialist positions, 11 have been filled, and 2 are currently on temporary duty. The minister also mentioned that a dedicated surveying staff has been hired, and another recruitment process is underway for additional positions.
