The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has arrested a Kanpur ordnance factory employee for espionage. Vikas Kumar, 38, is accused of leaking classified information to a handler from Pakistan's ISI through social media platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp. This arrest occurred just days after another factory worker was taken into custody for similar charges. The earlier suspect, Ravindra Kumar, was arrested in Lucknow on March 13 after being lured by a fake Facebook profile. This profile belonged to a woman named Neha Sharma, who allegedly used a honey trap to gather information. Investigations revealed that Vikas Kumar had been in contact with the fake profile since January 2025. He communicated with the suspected ISI handler using the LUDO application, sharing sensitive data such as production charts and employee attendance records. Kumar has been charged under several sections of Indian law. These include conspiracy to commit offenses related to waging war against the government. The officials indicated that like Ravindra, Vikas fell into a trap engineered by the ISI, which involved blackmail and monetary temptation to extract information. The ATS has also recovered important documents from Kumar's WhatsApp chats. Officials reported that at least five sensitive documents were shared with the ISI handler.
