Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign face copyright lawsuit over song sampling
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign are facing a new copyright infringement lawsuit over their song "Fuk Sumn." The lawsuit, filed by artists Criminal Manne, DJ Squeeky, and Kilo G, claims they used an uncleared sample from DJ Squeeky's track "Drank a Yak (Part 2)." The trio alleges they attempted to negotiate for royalties after the song's release but received no response from West's team. They are seeking damages, claiming they have not been compensated since February 2024. This lawsuit adds to West's ongoing legal troubles, including a sexual assault claim from his ex-assistant and multiple lawsuits from former employees of his now-closed Donda Academy. West is also in the process of finding new legal representation.
