Karachi businessmen welcome reinstatement of KCCI leaders

Business leaders in Karachi have expressed support for a recent decision by the commerce secretary. The secretary has reversed an order that suspended the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) leadership. This reinstatement allows elected officials to continue their work. Zubair Motiwala, chairman of the Businessmen Group, and Jawed Bilwani, president of KCCI, spoke at a media briefing. They promised to support the business community fairly, following a long-standing public service policy. Motiwala described the secretary's decision as a victory for democratic governance in trade organizations. He criticized previous actions that he claimed made the KCCI ineffective. He warned that such disruptions could create uncertainty for businesses and harm foreign investment. Motiwala highlighted the KCCI’s efforts to support trade and exports. He said that diminishing its democratic leadership could lead to a loss of confidence among businesses in Pakistan.
