An anti-terrorism court in Karachi has extended the physical remand of Armaghan Qureshi, the main suspect in the Mustafa Amir murder case, until March 24. Armaghan is accused of kidnapping and brutally torturing Amir before killing him and burning his body in January. During a recent court hearing, the investigating officer asked for more time to complete the investigation. Police brought Armaghan to court as his remand expired. Tensions rose when Armaghan's father caused a disturbance in the courtroom, leading police to escort him out to maintain order. Armaghan has declined to accept legal representation suggested by his father and refused to speak with him. The court adjourned the hearing and requested a progress report for the next session. Last week, the anti-terrorism court had already extended Armaghan's custody for another seven days. The investigation escalated when Armaghan fired at police during a raid on his house in the Defence Housing Authority area of Karachi. Police found Mustafa Amir's body in a car near a checkpost on January 12. He was later identified through DNA testing. During questioning, Armaghan reportedly confessed to discussing the murder with his father, who advised him to flee and go into hiding. He allegedly traveled to different cities to evade arrest. The court heard that Armaghan is also wanted for various crimes, including drug cases and extortion. The Counter-Terrorism Department and the Federal Investigation Agency are both involved in the investigation, aiming to gather more evidence against him.
