Karan Johar sells 50% stake in Dharma Productions

Karan Johar has sold a 50 percent stake in his company, Dharma Productions, to Adar Poonawalla, the CEO of the Serum Institute. This deal involves an investment of around Rs 1000 crore. At a recent awards event, actor Kartik Aaryan jokingly commented on the sale. He asked Karan to make him a partner, to which Karan humorously responded with various suggestions for what type of partner Kartik could be. Kartik then made a playful remark about Poonawalla and mentioned he had heard that he would be getting a 51 percent stake. Karan Johar discussed this new partnership at a leadership summit, expressing that he needed fresh insights to grow Dharma Productions. He described the partnership as a beneficial collaboration between two minds. Adar Poonawalla also shared his surprise at entering the media industry but saw promising business opportunities. He noted that areas like music distribution and content creation are expected to thrive in the coming years. Poonawalla is drawn to Karan's storytelling skills and believes that Dharma's established brand will help them succeed in this venture.
