Kareem Powell sentenced for armed robberies in North Jersey
A man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for robbing two businesses at gunpoint in New Jersey in the summer of 2022. Kareem Powell, 32, from Willingboro, received his sentence on Thursday after pleading guilty to robbery and gun charges. The robberies occurred on the night of August 22, 2022. Powell and two other men entered a bodega in Passaic, armed and wearing masks. They threatened customers and employees before stealing thousands of dollars. Later that night, they carried out a similar robbery at a business in Paterson. Powell's accomplices, Carlos Diaz and Edward Porter, have also pleaded guilty to the robberies. They are facing sentencing for those crimes as well as two additional armed robberies committed the next day. In addition to his prison term, Powell must pay restitution to the businesses and will be on supervised release for three years after his sentence.
