thehindu.com

In Telangana's Karimnagar, a new initiative aims to enhance learning for students beyond traditional classrooms. On March 17, 2025, the School Education department launched this program in partnership with an NGO. A model vegetable market was set up in Rythu Bazar, inaugurated by Collector Pamela Satpathy. Around 60 rural students from 12 government schools participated in this initiative. They learned about marketing fresh vegetables that were grown on school grounds. Students took on the roles of vegetable vendors, showcasing the benefits of organic produce. The initiative also taught students about the importance of farmers, known as 'anna data' or food givers. They explored topics like demand, supply, and consumption patterns. The goal is to foster an entrepreneurial spirit and provide a more well-rounded education for the students.
