Mangaluru: Chitradurga MP Govind M Karjol has made serious accusations against the Congress government in Karnataka, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He claims there is widespread corruption and that many politicians have fallen victim to sex scandals, known as "honeytraps." Karjol is demanding Siddaramaiah's resignation and an apology to the state's six crore residents. Karjol mentioned reports from several senior ministers about attempts to compromise politicians. He pointed out that 48 such incidents have been identified in the state. He questioned how a government involved in corrupt activities can effectively govern its people. He alleged that Siddaramaiah's government misused funds meant for Dalit welfare. According to Karjol, Rs 11,444 crore intended for SC/ST development in the 2023-24 budget and Rs 14,000 crore for 2024-25 have been misappropriated. He noted that the current budget only allocates Rs 7,000 crore for these communities. Karjol highlighted troubling statistics, saying that 3,400 farmers have died by suicide since Congress took office. He also reported the deaths of 730 lactating women, 1,100 newborns, and 50 cases of raped and murdered women. Additionally, he accused the government of marginalizing Muslims through vote bank politics. He criticized the establishment of separate colleges for Muslim girls and compared it to past practices of untouchability. He argued for inclusive education for all communities and opposed a 4% reservation for Muslims in government contracts. Karjol referenced Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's views on reservations, warning against divisions based on caste and religion. He also condemned the suspension of 18 BJP MLAs for six months, recalling that the BJP had shown more restraint during its time in power. He suggested that suspensions could have been shorter.
