Karma Automotive launches Amaris 2-door EREV coupe
Karma Automotive has introduced its first 2-door coupe, the Amaris. This car represents the next step in the company’s Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology. It is set to enter production in the fourth quarter of 2026. The Amaris combines luxury, performance, and efficiency in its design, which draws inspiration from the earlier Kaveya super-coupe. The Amaris features a sleek body made from carbon fiber and aluminum. It includes 22-inch forged aluminum wheels, unique "swan doors," and a stylish line that enhances its shape. Performance elements like a rear spoiler and side exhaust add to its sporty look. The front of the car is marked by a clamshell hood and special lighting. Under the hood, the Amaris is equipped with Karma's most powerful EREV system yet. This includes a turbocharged 4-cylinder ICE generator paired with electric motors. The coupe can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 165 mph. In addition to the Amaris, Karma announced that the Gyesera, originally planned as a fully-electric car, will also now be an EREV. It is expected to launch in late 2025, replacing the Revero. Karma President Marques McCammon highlighted the goal of offering strong torque similar to electric vehicles while providing extended range. Both the Amaris and Gyesera are built on a new aluminum framework that was first used in the Revero. This design will help the company develop its luxury vehicles more quickly. Meanwhile, the all-electric Kaveya super-coupe is now set to be released in 2027, followed by the Ivara GT-UV in 2028. Pricing details for these models have not yet been released.
