Karnataka bandh did not disrupt Tamil Nadu bus services

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Bus services between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were not affected on Saturday, despite a state-wide bandh in Karnataka. The bandh was organized by pro-Kannada groups in response to an incident where a bus conductor was attacked in Belagavi for not speaking Marathi. These groups also protested Tamil Nadu's opposition to a dam project at Mekedatu on the Cauvery River. Although the bandh was called, bus operations continued as usual, with police from both states providing security. Pro-Kannada activists held a demonstration in Athipalli, close to the border, claiming their right to build the dam. In response, Karnataka police detained more than 20 protesters. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu police monitored the Hosur-Jujuwadi area along the border to maintain order.
