Karnataka BJP Chief criticizes Waqf Amendment Bill
Karnataka BJP Chief BY Vijayendra has criticized the state government for passing a resolution against the Waqf Amendment Bill. He claims the resolution was "forcefully passed" by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and he accused the government of protecting land grabbers. Vijayendra spoke out against the 4% reservation for minorities, calling it "appeasement politics." He stated that the BJP would organize protests against both the Waqf amendment issue and the reservation policy. He alleged that Congress leaders are involved in land-grabbing activities and promised to expose these "scams" to the public. His remarks follow similar objections from Karnataka's Leader of Opposition, R Ashok, who said the government favors Muslims to secure votes. The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which aims to reform the administration of Waqf properties, has sparked significant debate. The bill intends to improve transparency and address issues like corruption and encroachment. It includes measures such as digitization and enhanced audits to reclaim illegally occupied properties.
