Karnataka government to fulfill welfare budget commitments
The State government is determined to spend all the budgeted money for various welfare schemes, according to K. Harish Kumar, president of the Dakshina Kannada Pradesh Congress Committee. He spoke to reporters in Mangaluru on Saturday. Mr. Kumar noted that not all funds allocated for welfare projects, such as the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, have been used in the 2024-25 Budget. He acknowledged some issues with implementation but assured that these are being addressed. He mentioned that the Gruha Lakshmi scheme provides ₹2,000 each month to women heads of families, and this has been paid for three months so far. Additionally, he stated that the government plans to offer ₹3,000 monthly assistance to fishermen during the fishing ban period. Mr. Kumar also highlighted the government's commitment to launch a 'sea ambulance' service along the Karnataka coast to improve marine safety and support.
