Karnataka rejects 324 NRI quota applications for admissions
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) rejected 324 applications for the NRI quota in PG NEET admissions, more than double last year's 149 rejections. This year, KEA received 1,090 applications, up from 999 last year. The increase in rejections is due to stricter scrutiny following a scam in Tamil Nadu involving fake certificates. Many applications were rejected because they did not meet the requirement of having a first-degree relation to the financial sponsor. Only 87 NRI seats were allotted this year, a significant drop from 394 last year, with 344 seats converted to management. KEA plans to propose changes to NRI regulations, including fee payments in dollars.
