Karnataka to create natural farming demonstration plots
Karnataka is moving forward with a new initiative to promote natural farming. The state plans to develop demonstration plots in 990 clusters across various districts. This decision was announced by Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy after discussions with farmers and officials. The government aims to implement the Dr. Subhash Palekar model of natural farming. To support this effort, a certification process for natural farming produce will also be established. New schemes are being introduced to help farmers increase the value of their crops. The government believes this will help farmers earn better incomes. The promotion of natural farming is part of a broader effort to ensure sustainable agriculture. It aims to protect soil health and the environment. The government will also encourage chemical-free farming practices, including organic farming, especially in dry-land areas.
