Kashmere Gate ISBT in Delhi to enhance bus travel

Delhi's Kashmere Gate Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) is set to undergo upgrades that will make bus travel more efficient. The upgrades will include real-time updates and smarter technology aimed at improving the experience for the thousands of commuters who use the terminal daily. The new system will feature digital displays that show bus arrival times and estimated wait times. There will also be SMS alerts for bus crews, which will help keep the buses running on schedule. An Automated Bus Bay Allotment System will manage the entry and exit of buses using Fastag technology. Implemented through a Public-Private Partnership model, these changes are intended to reduce congestion and improve bus turnaround times. Currently, buses take up to 60 minutes to turn around, but the goal is to cut that down to 30 minutes. This change could increase bus circulation by over 50 percent. The Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (DTIDC) is overseeing this project. They have invited proposals for the design, supply, and maintenance of the new system. The project will initially cover 60 bus bays, with the potential to add more in the future. With these advancements, commuters in Delhi can expect a more streamlined and organized experience at one of the country's busiest bus terminals.
