Kashmir police demolish militant's property in Anantnag
On March 22, 2025, police in Anantnag, Kashmir, destroyed the house of a militant linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group. The property belonged to Haroon Rashid Ganie, whose father is known for working with this banned terrorist organization. Ganie has been operating from Pakistan since 2018 and is accused of planning attacks that threaten national security. The demolition targeted an illegally built house on encroached state land. Police described the action as part of a broader effort to break down terror networks in the region. They released a video showing an earthmover demolishing the structure, emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order. The Jammu and Kashmir Police pledged to take more strict measures against those who misuse government land for illegal activities. They warned that similar operations would continue against terrorist operatives and their supporters. In another operation, police raided the home of Farooq Ahmad Dar, a member of the Democratic Freedom Party, over alleged links to banned organizations. Authorities reported seizing incriminating materials and indicated that more raids may follow. The DFP was labeled as an illegal group by the Ministry of Home Affairs a few years ago.
