Katikati community supports fire-affected family of six

A fire has destroyed the vicarage in Katikati, leaving a family of six without a home. The blaze claimed their dog, Billie, but fortunately, the nearby church and other homes were not damaged. The community has come together to support the Macfarlane family. Offers of help have poured in, and they have been provided with a place to stay temporarily. The family expressed their gratitude for the quick response of firefighters and the overwhelming kindness from their neighbors. Jonathan Macfarlane is the minister at St Peter’s Anglican Church. He lives with his wife, Lauren, and their four children, Jack, Jemma, Louisa, and Leo. The family moved to Katikati about a year ago and had been living in the vicarage behind the church. Despite their deep loss, they feel thankful for the support they are receiving as they begin to heal and rebuild their lives.
