Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a rally in Ludhiana on Monday. They visited areas like Haibowal and Jawahar Nagar Camp, meeting residents and promising to improve local services, including upgrading the civil hospital. The rally has drawn criticism from opposition parties. They claim that AAP violated rules by using illegal hoardings to promote their campaign. Many hoardings appeared overnight at major intersections, including on Ferozepur Road. This has raised concerns about unfair enforcement of municipal rules. BJP district president Rajnish Dhiman accused AAP of ignoring its own regulations. He said, “The AAP never stands by its own words and violates the rules it claims to uphold.” Congress leader Sanjay Talwar added that AAP is now engaging in the VIP culture they previously criticized. Residents have expressed their frustration over the illegal hoardings. Some, like shopkeeper Amit Khanna, noted that they contribute to the visual clutter in the city. Another resident, Jaspreet Kaur, pointed out the apparent double standards, questioning why AAP faced no consequences for their actions. Municipal officials confirmed that no permission was granted for the hoardings and said they plan to take action against them. However, as of now, no steps have been taken. The Municipal Corporation commissioner was not available for comment on the situation.
