Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated a renovated civil hospital in Ludhiana on Tuesday. The hospital now features a modern orthopaedic operation theatre, which cost about ₹1 crore. This facility is equipped with advanced surgical instruments for intricate procedures and is designed to maintain a sterile environment. The hospital has seen significant upgrades to public facilities. All washrooms, including those in the outpatient and emergency units, have been renovated with better fixtures and anti-slip flooring. However, the toilets in the outpatient department remain locked. To improve patient care, 500 new bed sheets have been added, along with five water coolers providing chilled purified water. These are placed in convenient locations throughout the hospital. New tiles have been installed on walls to enhance both appearance and hygiene. Structural improvements include repair and maintenance work on walls and surfaces that had deteriorated over the years. The hospital also underwent waterproofing to prevent water damage, and all old doors and windows have been repaired or replaced. Two old lifts have been updated and are operational after being out of service for 12 years. The hospital’s lighting systems have also been restored to ensure proper visibility at night. Roads within the hospital have been rebuilt to improve access, and new paver blocks have been installed for better parking arrangements. A spacious waiting area of 5,000 square feet has been constructed to provide comfort for patients and visitors. Additionally, a horticulture program has been initiated to beautify the hospital grounds and enhance the overall atmosphere. The main entrance has also been improved for a welcoming appearance.
