Kejriwal introduces settlement scheme to revive Punjab industry
Arvind Kejriwal, the national leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), announced a new plan aimed at helping Punjab's struggling industries. He introduced a one-time settlement scheme to help industrialists clear 32-year-old dues related to industrial plots. This effort is part of a broader push by the Punjab government to revive the state's industry and create a more transparent system. During a recent event, Kejriwal expressed that this scheme, initiated on March 3, allows businesses to waive off extra charges so they can pay their outstanding dues. He stated that discussions with industrialists have led to improvements and a new industrial policy that will be developed based on their feedback. He emphasized the need for the government to support industrialists to prevent them from leaving Punjab. Kejriwal further mentioned that all pending applications for new projects would be processed within 45 days. If not, they would automatically be considered approved. He also highlighted recent measures like updates to fire safety regulations and the introduction of environmentally friendly documents, which have eased some burdens for businesses. The AAP leader promised that the government is committed to fighting corruption and will soon make all public services available online to reduce opportunities for dishonest practices. He vowed to transform Punjab over the next two years, ensuring that essential services like water supply and sanitation are improved in 166 cities within the same timeframe. Kejriwal's focus is on holistic development for Punjab, aiming to restore the state to its former glory as a leader in multiple sectors.
