Kejriwal launches monthly aid scheme for women in Delhi ahead of elections
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a new scheme called the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojna, which will provide women in Delhi with ₹1,000 per month. This amount is set to increase to ₹2,100 if the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wins the 2025 assembly elections. The Delhi Cabinet has approved the scheme, and registration for benefits will start on Friday. However, funds will only be credited to beneficiaries after the elections due to the upcoming voting period. The initiative has a budget allocation of ₹2,000 crore. Kejriwal emphasized the scheme's goal of empowering women and addressing their financial needs. He positioned AAP as a pro-women party ahead of the February 2025 elections, amid criticism from opposition parties regarding the timing of the announcement.
