Kent State defeats St. Bonaventure in NIT opener
Kent State's men's basketball team won their first game in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) by defeating St. Bonaventure 75-56. The game took place in St. Bonaventure, New York, on Tuesday night. VonCameron Davis led Kent State with 14 points. Delrecco Gillespie contributed with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Davis also grabbed five rebounds during the game. Another standout was Cli’Ron Hornbeak, who scored 11 points, hitting 5 of 6 shots. For St. Bonaventure, Chance Moore was the top scorer with 16 points and made three steals. Jonah Hinton added 12 points and Noel Brown scored 11 points. Despite a strong effort from the Bonnies, Kent State took control of the game in the second half. The Golden Flashes secured their lead with 17:41 left in the game and maintained it throughout. Kent State will advance to play Stanford in the second round of the tournament on Sunday, with the game time yet to be announced.
