Kerala Congress (Democratic) merges with Trinamool Congress

The Kerala Congress (Democratic) has announced its merger with the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Mamata Banerjee. This decision marks a departure from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) due to perceived neglect of key issues. Chairman Saji Manjakadambil cited increasing wildlife attacks and falling rubber prices as reasons for the shift. He noted that the NDA had not included them in coalition meetings since their induction. A merger convention is planned for April in Kottayam. This move is expected to strengthen TMC's outreach to the Christian community in Kerala and may facilitate Manjakadambil's return to the Congress-led coalition.
