Kerala Governor to open Dalit progress conclave March 23
A Dalit progress conclave is set to take place on March 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Biotechnology. The event marks the 15th anniversary of the Gandhigram project started by senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala. Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishvanath Arlekar will officially open the conclave. V.D. Satheesan, the Leader of the Opposition, will give the keynote speech. Dansari Anasuya, a minister in the Telangana State Cabinet, will be the guest of honour. At the event, two notable people will be recognized. Kodikunnil Suresh, an MP, and Lakshmikutty Amma, a tribal medical practitioner, will receive honors. Discussion topics will include the constitutional protections for Dalits and Adivasis. Other issues include the challenges of land ownership and unemployment that affect Dalit and backward communities. O.R. Kelu, the Minister for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes, will lead the closing event.
