Kerala High Court clears director Sreekumar Menon of abuse charges against actress
The Kerala High Court has dismissed charges against film director Sreekumar Menon, who was accused of abusing and defaming a Malayalam actress. The court ruled that using unpleasant language does not automatically insult a woman's modesty. The actress claimed Menon verbally abused her during the filming and promotion of the movie "Odiyan" and at Dubai airport. However, the court found that the allegations did not meet the legal definitions of stalking or insulting modesty. The court stated that for an offense under Indian law, there must be intent to insult modesty or intrude on privacy. It concluded that Menon's actions did not constitute a legal offense, quashing the police report and ongoing court proceedings.
