Kerala raises dearness allowance for government employees to 15%

The Kerala government has announced an increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. The DA will rise from 12% to 15%. This change will take effect in April 2025. The increase applies to various groups. This includes government employees, teachers, staff in aided schools, private colleges, polytechnics, and local government employees. State service pensioners and family pensioners will also receive the higher allowance. The new rates will be included in salaries and pensions starting in May 2025. This means employees and pensioners will see the increase in their payments beginning that month. Additionally, the DA for certain teaching staff will also increase. For those who switched to a revised pay scale in 2016, the DA will go up from 34% to 38%. For teaching staff still on the sixth UGC, AICTE, and Medical Education scale since 2006, the DA will increase from 203% to 212%.
