Kerala State Information Commission faces significant backlog

As of January 31, 2025, the Kerala State Information Commission has 5,066 appeal petitions and 1,662 complaint petitions pending. This marks a significant backlog for the Commission. Chief Information Commissioner V. Hari Nair, who took office in March 2024, has disposed of 376 appeal petitions and 78 complaint petitions. Other members have also contributed to reducing the backlog. Abdul Hakkim A. has handled the most cases, disposing of 1,796 appeal petitions and 641 complaints since August 2022. Newer members, Sreekumar M., Sonichan P. Joseph, and Ramakrishnan T. K., joined in mid-2024 and have handled fewer cases.
