Khalil fights deportation after being detained in NYC
Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate and anti-Israel protest leader, is fighting deportation after being detained by immigration agents. He has not been charged with any crimes related to his activism. Tom Homan, the border czar, warned that Khalil may be the first of many legal green card holders targeted for deportation if they violate U.S. laws. Homan emphasized that any resident alien committing a crime is eligible for deportation. A federal judge has temporarily halted Khalil's deportation while his lawyers challenge the legality of his detention. Khalil is reportedly under investigation as a potential national security threat linked to support for Hamas.
