Khedua Majra villagers commit to water conservation efforts
Villagers in Prayagraj have committed to conserve water during an event organized by the Zila Ganga Samiti and Social Forestry. This gathering took place at a school in Khedua Majra Barawa on Sunday as part of the Swachhata Pakhwada initiative. Local authorities joined villagers in making a pledge to save water and spread awareness about its importance. The event also marked World Water Day, which was celebrated on March 22. This year's theme focused on the preservation of glaciers. Experts shared that glaciers are melting faster than before, which disrupts the water cycle and poses a threat to billions of people who rely on this vital resource. Ranvijay Nishad, known as the "Water Man," highlighted the need for collective action in water and environmental conservation. He encouraged everyone to take steps like building soak pits, fixing leaking taps, and using energy-efficient lamps in bathrooms. Additionally, speakers stressed the importance of creating more ponds and protecting lakes. They noted the interdependence of trees, plants, rivers, and animals, emphasizing that all these elements need to be conserved for a healthy ecosystem.
