Uzbek footballer Abdukodir Khusanov received a warm welcome home as he arrived for international duty in Uzbekistan. The Manchester City defender was gifted a luxury Mercedes-Benz G-Class, valued at £135,000. This gesture honors his historic achievements in football. Earlier this year, Khusanov made headlines when he became the first Uzbek player to sign with a Premier League club. He moved to Manchester City from Lens in a deal worth £33 million. Khusanov is hoping to contribute to Uzbekistan's journey towards their first-ever World Cup finals. The team is currently competing in the AFC third-round qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. They are set to play Kyrgyzstan and then group leaders Iran soon. Uzbekistan is currently in second place in their qualifying group, with 13 points. The top two teams will qualify for the World Cup. Khusanov has become an important player for his national team, earning 18 caps since his debut in 2023. Before joining Manchester City, he also had a solid performance in Ligue 1 with Lens.
