KIA introduces high-end electric vehicles for VIP transit

VIPs traveling through Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will soon enjoy rides in luxury electric vehicles. The airport is introducing a fleet that includes two BMW i7s and one all-electric MINI Countryman. Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) has signed a three-year agreement with BMW for these vehicles. The new EVs will serve dignitaries, business leaders, and other esteemed guests moving between the aircraft and the VIP terminal. In the past, Lexus cars were used for this purpose. The switch to electric vehicles aims to promote sustainability and reduce the airport's carbon footprint. Airport officials noted that VIP passengers will need to make prior bookings to use the EVs. Vikram Pawah, president and CEO of BMW Group India, highlighted the importance of these vehicles in showcasing electric luxury and technology in India. KIA already operates a fleet of EV taxis, expanding its commitment to environmentally friendly transport.
