Kidnapping suspect dies by suicide after police pursuit

A suspect involved in an armed kidnapping in Roseville shot himself and died in Reno, Nevada, on Saturday. This incident occurred after a pursuit by law enforcement over other crimes. Reno Police reported that they responded to reports of an armed carjacking around 7:30 a.m. Officers found that the suspect attempted to steal a car at gunpoint but failed. He matched the description of a person wanted for a kidnapping case in Roseville from Friday. After leaving the initial crime scene, the suspect got into another vehicle with a second victim, who drove him to Sparks, Nevada. He then succeeded in stealing a vehicle during another armed carjacking in Sparks. The Nevada Highway Patrol later located the stolen vehicle nearby and began a chase. This pursuit ended when the suspect crashed into a tree in Reno. When officers tried to get him to surrender, he shot himself and died. There were no other individuals in the vehicle at the time. Authorities have not yet released the suspect's identity or age. Investigations into the shooting and his prior crimes are ongoing.
