COIMBATORE: Police have arrested three men for kidnapping a 19-year-old to force his sister to accept a love proposal. The incident occurred after the brother confronted the kidnapper, Surya, who had been stalking his sister. Surya, 30, is said to have been in love with the woman, a college student, for over a year. Despite her refusals, he continued to follow her. Recently, the woman's brother and friends warned Surya to stop and reportedly assaulted him. In revenge, Surya planned the kidnapping. He and his three friends abducted the woman's brother while he was waiting for a bus to college. Surya then called the woman, demanding she bring a friend who had confronted him earlier. Later, the woman, along with Tharun and others, went to meet Surya in Chettipalayam. They released her brother, but Surya took Tharun with him. As they tried to escape, bystanders surrounded the car. Surya managed to flee, but the police arrested his accomplices: K Kalaiyarasan, V Sankar, and S Thirumurugan. They are now in custody, and authorities are searching for Surya.
