Kike Hernández credits glasses for season turnaround
Kiké Hernández, a former Boston Red Sox player, credits a new pair of glasses for turning around his baseball season. Last year, he struggled at the plate, hitting only .191 with 45 strikeouts before the All-Star break. He was worried about possibly losing his spot on the team. After the All-Star break, Hernández started wearing glasses after being diagnosed with astigmatism in his right eye. This change helped him see the ball better. “I kind of saved my season. Who knows if it saved my career,” he said on a podcast. He acknowledged that hitting a baseball is very challenging, especially when you can't see the ball clearly. Hernández re-signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in February. He previously spent three seasons with the Boston Red Sox before being traded back to the Dodgers in 2023. In his last stint with LA, he played a key role in their World Series victory against the New York Yankees, hitting .278 during the series. With the signing of Hyeseong Kim by the Dodgers, there were concerns about Hernández's future with the team. However, he remains popular among players and fans, known for his energy and positive attitude in the clubhouse.
