Kinzinger challenges Trump to arrest him over pardons

Former Illinois Representative Adam Kinzinger challenged Donald Trump to arrest him after Trump claimed that pardons issued by Joe Biden were invalid. Trump argued that the pardons were “void” because they were supposedly signed using an autopen. Kinzinger, who was involved in the investigation of the January 6 Capitol riot, received a pardon from Biden. This pardon was issued amid concerns that Trump would target those investigating the insurrection. Speaking on CNN, Kinzinger dared Trump to take legal action, saying, “Bring it on.” He suggested that Trump’s claims were merely distractions. The Oversight Project, a group linked to the Heritage Foundation, claimed that Biden's electronic signature invalidated the pardons. However, many legal experts argue that using an autopen is not unconstitutional. Historical memos also support the idea that a hand signature is not necessary for pardons to be valid. Kinzinger emphasized that the events of January 6 have already been assessed by the public. He believes Trump is preoccupied with this incident due to his negative image. On Fox News, it was reported that Biden and Trump had similar signature styles on their executive orders, which added another layer to the debate. In response to Trump's threats of legal action, Kinzinger confidently stated, “Stop pretending like you’re tough. Bring the charges then if you really want to do it because we will crush you in court.”
