Ludhiana: The PAU Kisan Mela ended successfully after two action-packed days. Farmers and organizations received awards for their impressive entries in various agricultural competitions and exhibitions. On the second day, many participants joined an award ceremony attended by senior university officials. Among the winners, Jarnail Singh from Tarn Taran district took first prize for his onions. Teerath Singh from Sandaur village came in second. Subhash Chand from Ahmadpur village won first place for garlic, while Sukhwinder Singh from Mankhera was second. In the tomato competition, Harpreet Singh from Chhabri village won. For potatoes, Arshdeep Dhillon of Kararwala village took first place, with Navdeep Singh of Malikpur Bet finishing second. The department of vegetable science led in field demonstrations, with soil science and fruit science following in second and third places. In youth group categories, FASC Barnala won first prize, while FASC Hoshiarpur and FASC Tarn Taran secured the second and third spots. Among stall competitions, Preet Directors excelled in farm machinery, and GSA Industries stood out in tractor-mounted machinery. Satnam Pumps and Motors won in the electric motors and engines category, while Lories Nudsen Electrical led in water-saving tools. Amolak Fresh Honey Farm from Patiala was the top self-help group, with Rajinderpal Kaur from Chak Sarvarnath village in second. FASC Bathinda and KVK Mansa received awards for agricultural literature sales, taking first and second places respectively. The event also recognized individual staff members for their contributions to literature promotion and stall management.
