KKR faces criticism for high bid on Venkatesh Iyer at IPL 2025 auction

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spent INR 23.75 crore to re-sign Venkatesh Iyer during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah. This amount makes Iyer the fourth-most expensive player at the auction. Former KKR captain Eoin Morgan criticized the bid as "desperate" and suggested KKR overpaid for Iyer, especially when players like KL Rahul went for INR 14 crore. Morgan acknowledged Iyer's talent but questioned the high price. Overall, KKR has spent INR 29.35 crore at the auction, acquiring three players, including wicketkeeper-batters Quinton de Kock and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
