S. Thilagavathi has been removed from her position as chairperson of the Kodumudi Town Panchayat after a no-confidence vote. The vote took place on Friday, following a resolution brought forward by the ward members. Kodumudi Town Panchayat has 15 ward members, split among various parties. Eight members are from the DMK, one from the AIADMK, three from the Congress, and three are independents. Many members raised complaints against Thilagavathi, prompting 12 of them to file a case in the Madras High Court. They sought a no-confidence motion against her. The court ruled and instructed the Executive Officer to notify all ward members about the vote. Although the meeting was originally set for February 24, it was delayed until March 21. During the voting process, 12 ward members chose to vote against the chairperson. However, after the vote, there was controversy. The presiding officer failed to provide copies of the resolution to the ward members. In response, some members staged a sit-in protest at the office.
