Kolkata airport's men's toilets face gutka and paan stains
Kolkata airport's newly renovated men's toilets are facing persistent stains from gutka and paan, leading officials to cancel plans for acrylic basins. They will now install ceramic basins, which are expected to be easier to clean. The issue arose after officials discovered that the stains were not due to poor maintenance but rather the habits of some passengers. Despite the acrylic basins being popular worldwide for their durability, they proved ineffective against these specific stains. In response, the airport is renovating 28 sets of toilets at a cost of Rs 7 crore. While women's and accessible restrooms remain clean, the men's facilities continue to struggle with cleanliness issues.
