Kori Bakery & Dessert offers exclusive mochi cubes in Orlando
Kori Bakery & Dessert in Orlando's Mills 50 neighborhood is gaining popularity for its unique mochi cubes. These desserts, made with a special recipe by owner Gillian Liu, are quite different from traditional mochi. They come in flavors like O’Choco, strawberry, matcha, and taro ube, and are served in an attractive cube shape. Liu, who grew up in Hong Kong, returned to Orlando after studying airline management. She had previously opened two successful Royaltea locations. During the pandemic, she spotted an opportunity to create a new dessert concept, leading to the opening of Kori Bakery & Dessert in August of last year. The bakery offers a variety of Japanese-inspired treats, including cheesecake, melon pan, and mochi cookies. Customers often enjoy their desserts in the inviting atmosphere of the shop, which is busy on weekends. The mochi cubes require careful preparation, and only the perfect ones make it to the display case. In addition to mochi cubes, Kori serves snow ice, a popular Japanese treat made from shaved ice topped with fruits and jellies, and lunch options for customers during the week. Liu is already thinking of new ideas, indicating her interest in keeping Kori's offerings fresh and exciting.
