Kremlin cautious on Trump's election win, awaits actions on Ukraine war
The Kremlin responded cautiously to Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, stating that only his actions in office will determine if he fulfills his promise to end the Ukraine war. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that they will assess Trump's concrete steps.
Despite some optimism among Russians in Moscow, the Kremlin maintained that its stance on Ukraine remains unchanged. Russia's foreign ministry reiterated that it would continue to pursue its goals in Ukraine, regardless of the U.S. election outcome.
Peskov noted that relations with the U.S. are at a historic low and expressed skepticism about any immediate changes in U.S. foreign policy. He mentioned that Russia is prepared to work with the new administration while defending its national interests.
