Kris Marshall open to "My Family" reboot conditions
Kris Marshall, known for his role in the popular BBC sitcom "My Family," has expressed interest in returning to the show. However, he mentioned that there is one important condition for a reboot to work. "My Family" aired from 2000 to 2011, and at one point, it attracted up to 10 million viewers. The series featured characters like dad Ben Harper, played by Robert Lindsay, and mum Susan, played by Zoë Wanamaker. Kris Marshall played their eldest son, Nick. The show remains popular today with replays on TV. Marshall, now 51, said that if the show were to return, it would need a special twist since his character, Nick, was very youthful. He noted that he started acting at age 27 but portrayed a character who was only 19. He acknowledged that he is not as youthful anymore, making a return challenging but not impossible. He also shared that his family has enjoyed watching the show’s classics on free channels. His kids have commented on how young he looks in old episodes. He believes that the humor in "My Family" holds up well over time and is not biased in his opinion because he often critiques his work. In recent discussions, a BBC executive emphasized the need to support and revive sitcoms, noting the rich history of British comedy. Popular sitcoms like "Fawlty Towers," "Only Fools and Horses," and "Gavin and Stacey" have had a significant cultural impact and continue to be beloved by audiences.
