The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS), along with several farmers' groups and regional parties, plans to launch a new political front. This initiative aims to advocate for farmers and marginalized communities in Karnataka. During a press conference in Kalaburagi, KRRS State President Kodihalli Chandrasekhar criticized the current Congress government for not meeting farmers' needs. He stated that there is a pressing need to change the Land Acquisition Act to better protect farmers' rights. Chandrasekhar also accused the Congress, BJP, and Janata Dal(S) of neglecting farmers' issues over the years. He highlighted concerns about a 2019 amendment passed by the Congress-Janata Dal(S) coalition, which he claims weakened important protections for land compensation and rehabilitation. The new political front will be called the Nava Karnataka Nirmaan Andolan. It consists of various farmers' organizations and parties, including the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Republican Party of India. They released a manifesto in January but have not yet decided on an official party name.
