Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion granted bail after shooting incident
Former BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion has received bail from the Haridwar District Sessions Court. He had been in custody since January 27 for allegedly firing over 50 rounds at the home of Umesh Kumar, the current MLA from Khanpur. The shooting incident occurred on January 26. Champion has been hospitalized since February 15 due to health issues. He was originally arrested for multiple serious charges, including attempted murder and unlawful assembly. Following a change in the charges, his lawyers filed a fresh bail application. The court granted bail on March 18. Champion will need to provide a personal bond of ₹50,000 and two surety bonds of the same amount for his release. Even though he was granted bail, Champion is still in judicial custody at the hospital. His lawyer stated that he is expected to fulfill the bail conditions soon.
