Kuwait court revokes mother's custody over drug use
A Kuwaiti appeals court has taken away a mother's custody of her son because she previously smoked hashish. The case came to light when her ex-husband reported her drug use to the court. He claimed she started using hashish in 2015 and had documented evidence of her drug behavior during their marriage. During the custody dispute, the father presented videos of the mother with drug paraphernalia. He said he held onto these videos to protect her reputation but felt it necessary to show them when she sought custody of their child. A lawyer for the father stated that the mother's past drug use showed she was not trustworthy. This case reflects a trend in Kuwait, where courts are increasingly denying mothers custody rights. In another instance, one mother lost custody of her four children because she consulted a sorcerer to harm her ex-husband. The case became known after a dispute over fees revealed her actions. In yet another case, a mother was denied custody due to her frequent travels, leading the court to grant custody to her ex-husband.
